So what is it like being a Dishcrawl ambassador? This is a question we often get from people interested in becoming an ambassador in their city. We think that instead of having us telling you how awesome it is, we think it’s best to have one of our ambassadors do the all the talking for us. Meet Papiloa Jourdan, our Hawaii ambassador who has an exciting passion for food and her city of Honolulu.
Are you on your own as far as planning and executing a Dishcrawl event?
“I have the freedom to plan and execute wonderful events that seem all your own, with support from the experienced Dishcrawl staff, which is truly awesome.
My experiences with Dishcrawl have been some of my favorite thus far, in my young professional life.”
What was the training like becoming an ambassador?
“In the beginning there were tutorials, conference calls, social media campaigns, and other forms to help you keep organized. Momentum is one of my favorite words to use now as a full time student and a full time ambassador. I believe it is the momentum that will keep the right personalities loving and thriving as an ambassador.”
What is a Dishcrawl event like from an ambassador’s point of view?
“Each event is different in so many ways. The conversation, the crowd, the restaurants, and the overall vibe are amazing. Everyone is so excited to see where the next restaurant is and what type of food there will be. I personally love to see the crowd interacting, laughing, and chatting with one another and the appreciation they have when they meet the chefs and owners behind it all. It’s intimate, it’s important.”
What types of restaurants are involved in your Dishcrawl?
“Sometimes it’s these great hole-in-the-walls and sometimes it’s a spectacular building; every time it’s great and exciting! It’s hard to think back at my favorite dishes, because there are so many. Some classic favorites and some new ‘foodie discoveries’ as I call it.”
What is it like seeing where you started with Dishcrawl to where it is now?
“This company is going places. A large part of the appeal, when I joined the team, was the fact that it was a small, growing company, where new ideas were welcomed and experimented on. That spirit is still alive and thriving in the company.”
