Introducing Jenelle, Dishcrawl Ambassador Extraordinaire!

Dishcrawl is now in 25 cities, which means 25 amazing localpreneurs have shown the passion to bring Dishcrawl to their city.

Now’s your chance to meet a few of them!

We’d like to start off by introducing Jenelle, a Bay Area Dishcrawl Ambassador!  Jenelle’s first Dishcrawl celebrated food in Willow Glen, and in March she’s ready to bring Dishcrawl to the Sunnyvale foodie community.

Jenelle

“I heard about the ambassador program from the rockstar herself, Tracy Lee!  We connected through Twitter and began chatting.  I love being a Dishcrawl ambassador because it allows me to connect with my community.  I’m able to create events from scratch and be in charge of all the details. It makes me feel super creative and definitely accomplished.”

Jenelle grew up in San Jose and graduated from SJSU in 2010 with a BA in Communication Studies.

“I’m a total foodie who loves following food trucks around the Bay Area. I am passionate about media and communication.  My dream job would be to become a TV host for a show on the Travel Channel.  Being able to showcase different foods and travel destinations would be everything I love rolled into one!”

We’re happy to have her before the Travel Channel sweeps her away.  Thanks Jenelle, for being a part of the Dishcrawl team!

You can follow Jenelle on Twitter @dishcrawlSB or join her for the Sunnyvale Dishcrawl!

Lovely Los Gatos!

It was a beautiful evening for our second Dishcrawl in downtown Los Gatos. We started our journey at Restaurant James Randall. The interior of the restaurant is lovely, using reclaimed items to their best advantage. The night was off to a good start with special $8 drinks. I tried the Lemon Drop made with spicy Thai-Chili infused vodka. It was the most delicious thing ever! Amy was kind enough to give me tips about infusing vodka with chilies, so that is my next adventure in infusions. Then the food arrived! The gnocchi was meltingly tender and the meatball finished with a surprising burst of spice. But the dish that got everyone talking was the Brussels Sprouts. Yes, Brussels Sprouts! Ross, the chef told me the secret-he roasts them until soft then he deep-fries them!

Restaurant James Randall
The WoW! Truck’s Chefs Tim and Ronnie used the James Randall kitchen to prep some food, which gave us more time to enjoy another drink (!) while we savored the Longanisa tamale. The masa was so light it almost floated off my fork and the sweet sausage was the perfect match.

The Wow Truck wows us!
Rootstock was our next stop. There is something comforting about being surrounded by bottles of wine and I certainly wasn’t disappointed here. The food was not disappointing either! The baked egg was a perfect consistency to eat with crispy toast. The crostini with ricotta and the salad were equally delicious. Ryan made sure we were all happy and plenty of wine flowed.

Rootstock
The last stop was Forbes Mill Steakhouse. Darin provided Kobe Beef skewers that were so tender and juicy we couldn’t get enough. But we had to save room for the flourless chocolate cake and the passion fruit cheesecake. Both were decadent, and I saw people alternating between bites of dessert and skewers!
It was an awesome night and everyone went home full and happy.

Savory San Mateo

What a great night in the fun fun fun San Mateo!  We started at the chic and hip Attic Restaurant, where specialty drinks were flowing while we were treated to Garlic Noodles topped with Miso Scallop, and scrumptious finger-licking awesome Adobo chicken wings. Everywhere we turned, someone else was saying how they had to come back to Attic restaurant! It was a great start to an awesome food night!

Garlic Noodles and Miso Scallop

Next we were off to Original Buffalo Wings. We feasted on fresh homemade chips and fries. And then were treated to two kinds of chicken wings and some Philly cheese steak sandwiches. All we could hear was happy munching as people dug right in! Yup, we were already feeling kind of full, but happy and ready to Dishcrawl onward through San Mateo.

Chips and Fries

The next stop was Pancho Villa Taqueria. We were spoiled with the option to choose from a wide array of agua fresca flavors to pair with some flavorful Chorizo and al Pastor tacos! We devoured them with toppings from the scrumptious salsa bar. Everyone had satisfied smiles as we continued crawling onto our next destination – dessert!

Tacos

Yes, there was more to come. We ended up at Dessert Republic, a neat Hong Kong inspired spot.  It was already crowded with late-night foodies, but we piled right in! We were treated to delicate, fresh and airy egg puffs, intriguing black sesame pudding, amazing mango pudding, and hot and gooey Nutella crepes! It was the perfect sweet ending to a fabulous night! We will come back to San Mateo again, so make sure you join us!
